Mineral Exploration

GIS and remote sensing is an effective tool in mineral exploration. It makes it easy to create baseline information for other activities including site modeling, facilities monitoring as well as monitoring operations with regard to boundary compliance and production estimation. Creating 3D maps are increasingly being used to come up with precise and desired scaling with results providing accurate measurements.

While remote sensing technologies may not show exactly where major mineral deposits are but data gathered through sensors can be used to narrow field surveys to smaller areas where detailed exploration can be done, this is cost effective and offers accurate data, there by easing the scaling process when studying geologic mapping.
